MICHAEL "MICKEY" PIERCE, USN, (RET)
Virginia Beach, VA January 2012 -- Anchor Innovation, Inc.
(Anchor) welcomes aboard Michael “Mickey” Pierce as a Training
Specialist for Commander, Navy Region Southeast. Mickey will be teaching the Navy’s
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Course (HAZWOPER); Shore Installation Management
Basic Boat Coxswain Course, and perform Second Class Swimmer
certification and training. He is a 27 year veteran of the U. S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal
(EOD) community, retiring in 2005. Mickey’s experience
spans operational and leadership positions responsible for
all facets of joint service EOD operations, research and
development, advanced EOD and weapons training, site
management, operational test and evaluation, and interagency
coordination. Additionally, he served as the Port Security
Officer and a Force Protection Officer for Commander, Navy
Region Southeast.
Since retiring from the Navy, Mickey has had continued success in project and personnel management, safety, physical security, small boat maintenance management and operations, vulnerability assessments and emergency management operations. Serving as the Project Director for the maintenance of 64 Navy Oil Spill Response Boats during the Deepwater Horizon spill, Mickey’s leadership was a key contributor to the success of that vital mission. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University during off-duty hours in the Navy, has an advanced certification in Emergency Management, is a certified Department of State (Bureau of Diplomatic Security) Firearms Instructor and holds a USCG Masters License.
